Principal Examiners (GCSE Greek) produce appropriate assessment materials, including question papers and mark schemes, and are responsible for the standardisation of its marking. 

We are currently still recruiting for 2 Principal Examiners for this qualification.

Responsibilities

Producing and approving question paper(s) and mark scheme(s) from draft to finalised version by the given deadline(s).


Ensuring the final question papers meet the specification content and assessment objectives, and that the content is accurate and fit for purpose.


Attending the Question Paper Evaluation Committee meeting (QPEC) and confirming a final draft.


Responsibility for a team of Assessment Associates (AA), Team Leaders and Assistant Principals where necessary. You will lead, manage and monitor the standardisation of all marking during an exam session to deliver against key milestones.


Ensuring parity of standards across the question paper(s) by monitoring the marking standards of all Assessment Associates, ensuring accuracy and consistency throughout.

Reporting on the performance of Assessment Associates after completion of marking.

Participating in all awarding activities for the qualification. This will involve recommending appropriate mark ranges for the grade boundaries, producing supporting reports, completing awarding material inspections remotely and where required, attending face to face awarding meetings.

Producing a report on the performance of the question paper(s) for each examination series.

Reviewing the marking of work in connection with enquiries about results (EARs) of an examination.

Remaining up to date on the changes in the Education as well as regulatory requirements set by the regulator.

Collecting and preparing materials for Training from Pearson events as required.

Providing a reply as necessary to comments on and criticisms of examinations.  

Experience/qualifications needed

  • You will have experience of teaching the relevant subject and level
  • Qualified Teacher is desirable
  • You will have assessment experience in the relevant qualification
