Pearson are currently recruiting for Associates to support the development of some additional external assessments for a new tested unit in the following qualification: 

Pearson BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Aerospace and Aviation Engineering (Foundation Knowledge)

We are seeking applicants with specific knowledge to write and edit tests for the following unit; 'Principles of Aerodynamics and Rotary Wing Theory of Flight'  

We are looking to a recruit a small team of people who can act as Writer/Editor for the unit.  Please note, applicants only need to make one application in order to be considered. If you do have a preference of writing or editing, please state this in the Additional Information section of the application form. 

The requirements of both an Editor and Writer are outlined below: 

BTEC Specialist Item Writer

Purpose of the role: 

BTEC Specialist Item writers are responsible for producing tests and supporting materials.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Acceptance of a contract to provide services to Pearson as an item writer will be regarded as an undertaking to meet the following requirements:

You are required to:

• Produce a test and mark scheme in accordance with the schedule provided by Pearson
• Produce a mapping grid for each test showing content targeting and level of demand

You must:

• Provide content in the required format using the specified format for submission
• Match all items to the assessment requirements (learning outcomes, assessment criteria and specified content) ensuring that equivalent items are of the same level of demand
• Ensure all items provide a valid and fair test of achievement.
• Ensure parity of standards across test versions
• Adhere to guidance provided on item types and item quality as required by Pearson.

• Ensure all items are submitted by the specified deadline
• Make amendments to tests and items following feedback

BTEC Specialist Subject Editor 

Purpose of the role: 

To review test content and provide feedback for the Item writer. To sign off the test as ready to progress through the production process.

Duties and Responsibilities:   

• Ensure that the external assessments as a whole cover the assessment criteria and satisfactorily sample the appropriate amplification.

• Ensure that the writer has produced a test that will meet the learning outcomes and the unit.
• Ensure that all items are technically correct and do not present barriers to achievement.
• Ensure that any graphics, photographs or images supplied to support items are appropriate
• Ensure that the writer has adhered to guidance provided on item types and item quality as required by Pearson
• Report to the Lead Examiner in relation to writer performance.      

 You must:

• Review tests and provide feedback for the item writer
• Attend review meeting
• Review additional items remotely as appropriate
• Ensure that all items are correctly matched to the assessment requirements (assessment criteria and specified content) ensuring that equivalent items are of the same level of demand
• Ensure that the mark scheme and Marking grid match the test and are fit for purpose
• Make required amendments when small changes are required
• Escalate issues to Pearson when appropriate
• Meet deadlines as agreed
