Reference:KS2MGPS2018BR

Closing date:12 March 2018 at midday

The National Curriculum Tests Team at Pearson are looking to recruit a small team of Braille readers to join our marking team of nearly 5,000 people.

We are contracted by the Standards & Testing Agency to develop training material and deliver training so that our team are able to accurately mark over 3 million pupil scripts for Key Stage 2 tests in English reading, English grammar, punctuation and spelling and Maths. Each year a number of pupils complete their Key Stage 2 tests using Braille, and we are looking for markers who can mark non-Braille pupil responses via an online system from home, and also attend a central marking panel in Yorkshire to mark physical Braille scripts.

For both online and physical marking a Marker marks pupil responses in accordance with the pre-defined mark scheme, whilst adhering to marking and administrative procedures and scheduled deadlines for the National Curriculum Assessments.

What experience do I need to become a Braille Marker?

You should have at least two years’ teaching experience in the relevant subject and at the relevant level. For example, if you wish to mark key stage 2 English reading, you must have recently taught English reading for at least two years. You must be able to read  Unified English Braille (UEB), and have a good level of computer literacy. We are unable to accept applications for Braille markers from current Year 6 teachers due to confidentiality considerations.

What subjects can I apply to mark?

You can apply to be a Marker for the following key stage 2 assessments:

·         English grammar, punctuation and spelling (GPS)

·         English reading

·         Mathematics

When do I need to be available?

Tr\aining will be in April 2018, the exact dates are yet to be decided.

Marking will need to be completed between 11 and 24 June at a marking panel.

If you are interested please complete our online application form, and email details with regards to your experience in braille to aaresourcing@pearson.com.
