Lead Trainer – Vocational Qualifications

The Teaching, Learning and Professional Development team (TLPD) in BTEC and Apprenticeships are looking to recruit 6 committed Lead Trainers who will support UK and International VQ Professional Development (PD) key campaigns.

We are looking to recruit Lead Trainers who are passionate about PD, with exceptional PD delivery skills and can demonstrate sector/qualification expertise. You will be required to deliver a number of PD events and this role would be in addition to that as a trainer. You will be supporting a pool of trainers who will have sector/qualification expertise but not necessarily with the same qualification/sector expertise as yourself. The role is for a period of 11 months including a 3 month probationary period and is subject to Performance Management.

As a Lead Trainer, you will be required to maintain occupational competency, knowledge and understanding and to keep records to demonstrate you have undertaken CPD.


 A summary of the key activities are identified below:

  • Act as the link between the TLPD team and your allocated team of trainers as and when requested by the TLPD team, to coordinate trainer availability for delivering events and any upskilling as required
  • Carry out trainer observations and provide feedback, as and when requested by the TLPD team, escalating any concerns, areas for improvement and further action required.
  • Act as a mentor and point of contact for a large team of trainers, providing support and guidance about training delivery and responding to queries as and when requested by the TLPD team.
  • Collect any questions that your pool of trainers have been unable to answer when delivering their events and forward these plus any feedback from trainers regarding the events if required to the TLPD team.
  • Attend any upskilling as requested by the TLPD team
  • Undertake any other Lead Trainer responsibilities as requested by the TLPD team

 

In order to carry out the role we are looking for demonstration of the following knowledge, experiences, skills and attributes:

 

Knowledge and Qualifications

  • A high level of current qualification/sector knowledge
  • Sound understanding of the relevant qualification and assessment principles
  • Hold a relevant teaching degree or equivalent
  • An understanding of effective training methodologies, strategies and tools

 

Experience

  • Significant experience in delivering and assessing vocational qualifications
  • Highly experienced in delivering training both face to face and in a virtual environment
  • Experienced mentor
  • IT competent
  • Customer Service
  • Decision-making and judgement

 

Skills

  • High level of competency in using technology to deliver training with a desire to develop and use all forms of technology in delivering a blended learning PD offer
  • High level of competency in using IT systems to provide administrative support
  • Excellent communication, presentation and time management
  • Ability to work in a virtual team, sharing good practice
  • Ability to work independently, with little direction
