To take responsibility for two Pearson Test of English (PTE) General Levels: one of A1 & A2; B1 & B2; or C1 & C2. Chief Examiners are also responsible to the Chair of Examiners for ensuring that all assessments in those levelsincluding both the written and speaking tests, meets the requirements of the specification and maintains standards, series on series.  

Please note PTE General has seven series a year: February, March, May, June, October, November and December.   

 

Chief Examiners also undertake the role of Principal Examiner for at least one component of the examination and so must either already be contracted as a Principal Examiner or successfully apply to be a new Principal Examiner.

Paper 02 is a Spoken English language test run in conjunction with Paper 01 (Listening, Reading and Writing) across 6 levels.

Responsibilities 

 

·     To supervise the Principal Examiners 

 

·     To review the question papers and mark schemes to ensure appropriate standards 

 

·     To ensure consistency between assessments at a given level, aligning where appropriate to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) 

 

·     To ensure appropriate differentiation between levels (A1 & A2; B1 & B2; or C1 & C2), aligning where appropriate to the CEFR 

 

·     To participate in the Awarding process, ensuring that there is comparability in the standards of awards made via different options or tiers 

 

·     To act as Principal Examiner for at least one component of the examination 

·      

Experience and Qualifications Required 

 

·     You will have assessment experience up to at least Team Leader level on PTE or another appropriate qualification (such as GCSE / International GCSE English Language, A-level / International A-level English Language, ESOL, etc.)  

 

·     You will have a degree and teaching qualification 

 

·     You will have experience of teaching English Language, ESOL, or another relevant qualification 

 

·     You will have experience of managing people
