Candidates who can offer experience in raising attainment of struggling learners will also be of interest. The freelance trainers are required to deliver face to face courses to individual schools, or clusters of schools, using the materials produced by the Pearson Professional Development (PD) team. These materials include online resources, so confidence in using and showing software is essential.

We are looking for people to deliver our Heinemann Active Maths course, the content is a mixture online and paper materials, plus some primary maths pedagogy. Our forthcoming Primary English course, Wordsmith, will have a similar makeup.

  • You  have experience of planning and teaching maths and/or English/literacy in primary school and to different year groups
  • You have experience giving presentations and leading training events (preferably to teaching staff)
  • You are confident in the use of technology to support teaching and learning (e.g. primary educational software)
  • You are confident that you can adapt the delivery of the pre-produced materials to suit the customers' needs
  • You must live in Northern Ireland
  • You have a full, clean driving licence

Desirable

  • You have experience of leading maths and/or English/literacy in schools or with the local authority
  • You  have subject specialist knowledge in one of the following areas:
    • Teaching reading, and grammar, spelling and punctuation
    • Raising attainment in Reading, Writing and Maths

Please see the attached role description for further details.

Although every effort is made to ensure training is localised to your home area, occasional travel and overnight stays maybe required (Reasonable expenses are paid).

Freelance trainers can expect to earn £250 for a full day training event and £200 for a half-day (3 hour) event.
