We are currently recruiting for Editors/Proofreaders to comprehensively review the quality and standard of Arabic translations of BTEC International Level 2 and Level 3 qualification materials. 


 

Editors/Proofreaders  

 

This is a freelance/associate role. This role will not require an interview. Further information will be sent if you are successfully shortlisted. 


 

Purpose of this role  

 

The role will support the preparation of teaching and learning materials for our qualifications by reviewing educational materials that have been translated from English into Arabic language. 

The role will involve reviewing, editing and offering improvements to these teaching and learning materials. The aim to ensure that the materials are legible, precise, and easily comprehended by students (at the appropriate age reading level) and/or teachers. 


 

Key Duties & Responsibilities 

 

Editing/Reviewing Activities 

  • Review the translated materials from English into Arabic and in the course edit/review materials to ensure they are grammatically correct and fit for purpose. 

  • Offer constructive feedback clearly and concisely. 

  • Review/comment on draft materials on the appropriateness of sector/subject content within the materials in line with the given brief for Arabic speakers 

  • Review the materials to ensure that the formatting is correct and consistent. 

  • Meet deadlines & report back to Pearson within agreed time-frames. 

  • Check that materials are appropriate culturally and conform to the cultural sensitivity guidelines 

  • Adhere to guidance provided by Pearson. 

  • Work effectively with colleagues. 

 

Background/Experience/Skills (Essential) 

  • Fluent in Arabic 

  • Translation/proofreading experience from English into Arabic 

  • Good communication skills  

  • Confident use of Information Technology to provide the review - comfortable using MS Word and Microsoft Teams, PDF software such as Adobe Acrobat/Foxit 

  • Ability to meet deadlines
