Pearson is recruiting a Subject Matter Expert for Qualification Development for a new qualification in cyber and networking qualifications

 

An external Subject Matter Expert provides up-to-date sector or subject specific expertise that feeds into the development of the given qualification(s). The Subject Matter Expert must have current sector/subject knowledge and/or experience relevant to the qualification(s) in question.

 

ROLE SUMMARY:

 

An external Subject Matter Expert provides up-to-date sector or subject specific expertise that feeds into the development of the given qualification(s). The Subject Matter Expert must have current sector/subject knowledge and/or experience relevant to the qualification(s) in question.

 

ESSENTIAL:

  • Experience of teaching cyber and networking
  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent
  • Experience and understanding of the UK and/or international education and qualifications market and environment 
  • Experience of working on the design, and/or development of qualifications
  • Experience of balancing a commercial focus with regulatory/legal requirements and assessment validity to create solutions for customers that are practical and have competitive advantage 
  • Experience and knowledge of assessment techniques and principles 
  • Experience of leading and/or working effectively in virtual teams 
  • Project management experience 

 

DESIRABLE:

  • Teaching experience 
  • Qualifications held in subject
  • Industry background in cyber and networking
  • Experience of working on operation of qualifications 
  • Experience and understanding of allocated sector / sectors 
  • Experience of developing customised qualification and assessment solutions for tenders 
  • Design and development of digital learning/teaching resources 
  • Experience of managing budgets

 

RESPONSIBILITIES/TYPICAL TASKS:

  • Working alongside wider qualification development team including expert writers
  • Commenting on the appropriateness of sector/subject content within the qualification(s)/unit(s)
  • Contributing to scoping activities to determine the appropriateness of the proposed qualification(s)
  • Reviewing qualification subject/sector content and sample assessment materials appropriate for the subject/sector.

 

WORK HOURS:

 

Typically, 3-5 days’ work when on a project. Work required may differ for certain projects.
